Is McCarthyism really gone?


Back in the 1950’s Senator Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin headed the senete investagation committee and started a campaign to root out
Communism in the United States. And on February 4th, 1954 in Charleston, West Virginia. The Senator made it pretty clear who he was going after.

He said the following: The issue between the Republicans and Democrats is clearly drawn. It has been deliberately drawn by those who have been in charge of twenty years of treason. The hard fact is -- the hard fact is that those who wear the label, those who wear the label Democrat wear it with the stain of a historic betrayal.
During the communism trails The Senator claimed that the ACLU a democrat organization had been listed as "a front for, and doing the work of" the Communist Party?
The Attorney General at the time never listed the ACLU as subversive, nor did the FBI or any other federal government agency. And the American Civil Liberties Union holds in its files letters of commendation from President Truman, President Eisenhower, and General MacArthur.

There are several political pundits today who are practicing McCarthyism.

This administration is a massive failure and the liberals need to regain power and bring this nation back on its feet. This administration brought us the Patriot act and Big Brother is now watching. We now live in fear of one another as the person who you cross paths with on the street could be a terrorist!!! But the administration with several of its high ranking members currently in legal trouble will fake a terrorists threat to get our attention of off Rove, Delay and Frists legal troubles. I speak of the recent subway threat in New York that surprise!!!! Was a hoax.

For those who Do Not live in the Mid Michigan Area. His Banner is an independent Free Newspaper available in gas stations and Library’s etc in the Mid Michigan area. They provide Christian themed articles and for the most part is a very enjoyable
Paper. However they are slowly becoming a conservative propaganda machine. They question the Christianity of people they don’t even know. They Bash the Liberal side of politics and claim that the Republican party is Gods party. I sent a letter to the Editor, a non threatening letter telling them that I enjoy The paper and I applaud their effort in creating a Christian Paper. However I warned them against becoming a Conservative Propaganda Machine. The October 2005 Edition of His Banner responded to my letter with the following: (note His Banner words in Italics )

As we stated before , we have received letters critical of our positions on abortion and Homosexuality. The most recent letter Warned us against expressing a conservative point of view. (chuckw note: they are speaking of my letter and I only warned them against becoming a conservative propaganda machine, my letter did not mention anything about abortion or Homosexuality) This sounds like Al Quada. ( Excuse Me!!! ) Conservatives have no rights to express their beliefs, only liberals ( I never said that!!!! However His Banner says Liberals Have no right to express their opinions) This is the tyranny of liberalism. They tolerate everything except those who disagree with them. Interestingly, These letters gave no Biblical references to support their points of view.( Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor comes to mind!! Mr. Editor!!) Apparently they would stop criticizing us if we would just put some articles in the paper in support of Homosexuality and Abortion.

His Banner took my letter totally out of context. I never said anything about Abortion or Homosexuality in my letter. I actually was givening them praise in my letter and said the only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that they were becoming a Conservative Propaganda Machine and I warned them against that saying that if you are publishing this paper to win souls for Christ, Bashing liberals and judging people you don’t even know will only defeat the purpose. I never said that conservatives have no rights to express their beliefs!!!! To further prove that they are becoming a political paper, let me draw your attention to a classified Ad that was also in the October paper.

who is able to draw caricatures for
the paper, able to put two Ideas together in making a
Spiritual or political Statement.

The evidence I have provided to you clearly states the real intention of “His Banner”

People vote for a corrupt leader; a corrupt leader puts unqualified cronies in high places, and when those cronies screw up evil gets done. The devil didn't fly up from hell and knock a hole in that levee. The levee just didn't get built because the money for it went to rich people's tax cuts and pork projects and corporate welfare. Evil isn't "Salem's Lot." It's Trent Lott. An ailing American bald eagle was found to be dying from mercury poisoning. Republicans immediately tried to blame it on the eagle's lifestyle choices. But it's worth noting that the White House threatened to veto limits on mercury pollution. Now, pure evil would be if George Bush sat around the White House saying, "Let's poison eagles!" And even I don't believe George Bush would do that. Cheney would do that. And even he is not pure evil.”

Bush was quicker to respond to the World Trade Center attack on 9-11 cause a lot of his Base is located there! And it presented an Ideal opportunity to execute his administrations
Plans that where made long ago to attack Iraq and make his base richer.

New Orleans has a huge population of people on welfare, people that are not his base.

How does it feel to know that the man you elected to lead us after we were attacked went ahead and put a guy in charge of FEMA whose main qualification was that he ran horse shows?

I really want to know -- and I ask you this in all sincerity and with all due respect -- how do you feel about the utter contempt Mr. Bush has shown for your safety? C'mon, give me just a moment of honesty. Don't start ranting on about how this disaster in New Orleans was the fault of one of the poorest cities in America. Put aside your hatred of Democrats and liberals and anyone with the last name of Clinton. Just look me in the eye and tell me our President did the right thing after 9/11 by naming a horse show runner as the top man to protect us in case of an emergency or catastrophe.

want you to put aside your self-affixed label of Republican/conservative/born-again/capitalist/ditto-head/right-winger and just talk to me as an American, on the common ground we both call America.
Are we safer now than before 9/11? When you learn that behind the horse show runner, the #2 and #3 men in charge of emergency preparedness have zero experience in emergency preparedness, do you think we are safer?

When you look at Michael Chertoff, the head of Homeland Security, a man with little experience in national security, do you feel secure?
When men who never served in the military and have never seen young men die in battle send our young people off to war, do you think they know how to conduct a war? Do they know what it means to have your legs blown off for a threat that was never there?
Do you really believe that turning over important government services to private corporations has resulted in better services for the people?

With the nation's debt at an all-time high, do you think tax cuts for the rich are still a good idea? Will you give yours back so hundreds of thousands of homeless in New Orleans can have a home?
Do you believe in Jesus? Really? Didn't he say that we would be judged by how we treat the least among us? Hurricane Katrina came in and blew off the facade that we were a nation with liberty and justice for all. The wind howled and the water rose and what was revealed was that the poor in America shall be left to suffer and die while the President of the United States fiddles and tells them to eat cake.
That's not a joke. The day the hurricane hit and the levees broke, Mr. Bush, John McCain and their rich pals were stuffing themselves with cake. A full day after the levees broke (the same levees whose repair funding he had cut), Mr. Bush was playing a guitar some country singer gave him. All this while New Orleans sank under water.

It would take ANOTHER day before the President would do a flyover in his jumbo jet, peeking out the widow at the misery 2500 feet below him as he flew back to his second home in DC. It would then be TWO MORE DAYS before a trickle of federal aid and troops would arrive. This was no seven minutes in a sitting trance while children read "My Pet Goat" to him. This was FOUR DAYS of doing nothing other than saying "Brownie (FEMA director Michael Brown), you're doing a heck of a job!"
My Republican friends, does it bother you that we are the laughing stock of the world?
And on this sacred day of remembrance, do you think we honor or shame those who died on 9/11/01? If we learned nothing and find ourselves today every bit as vulnerable and unprepared as we were on that bright sunny morning, then did the 3,000 die in vain?

Our vulnerability is not just about dealing with terrorists or natural disasters. We are vulnerable and unsafe because we allow one in eight Americans to live in horrible poverty. We accept an education system where one in six children never graduate and most of those who do can't string a coherent sentence together. The middle class can't pay the mortgage or the hospital bills and 45 million have no health coverage whatsoever.
Are we safe? Do you really feel safe? You can only move so far out and build so many gated communities before the fruit of what you've sown will be crashing through your walls and demanding retribution. Do you really want to wait until that happens? Or is it your hope that if they are left alone long enough to soil themselves and shoot themselves and drown in the filth that fills the street that maybe the problem will somehow go away?
I know you know better. You gave the country and the world a man who wasn't up for the job and all he does is hire people who aren't up for the job. You did this to us, to the world, to the people of New Orleans. Please fix it. Bush is yours. And you know, for our peace and safety and security, this has to be fixed. What do you propose?

I was listening to Bill O’reillys abortion of a Radio show today, But ChuckW Why would you listen to that Guy???
Hey, I am glad you asked!!! We have a Radio in our Bathroom and I was having trouble with a bowl movement so I
Turned His Show on and That solved the problem!! Anyways. He was asking his listeners to call in and nominate people who are Ruining America and obviously they were all Liberals. Big surprise!!!

Well I will now make a nomination myself, extreme right wingers and to be fair extreme left wingers. HUH!! Let me explain.
I frequent a Few political Chatrooms on AOL and I go there to discuss the issues, however in every chatroom there are at least 1 or 2 persons who all they do is personally attack members of the opposite party by saying that there liberal Bedwetters or conservative nutjobs. All they want to do is call you names and that is just horrible. When the Terri Schiavo thing was still going on I went into a Chatroom on Paltalk that was for saving Terris life wich I was for. It was a conservative chatroom and they welcomed me with open arms when I said that I agreed with them but when I said I was a liberal I was called names and kicked out of the chatroom!!! Just because I stated wich party I belong to!!! That is horrible to demonize someone by just there party affiliation without knowing who they really are!! The Governor of Colorado is very guilty of it, election night 2004 he states on MSNBC that if you go to Church, you vote for George Bush. Shame on you Governor!!! These are the people that are ruining America and that’s very Sad!! So Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, consider yourself nominated!!

I just finished watching game 7 of the NBA Finals and my first impression is the better team did not win. I am not just saying that because I am a Piston fan, I truly mean it.
The spurs were good but I just didn’t think they were good enough. On the flip side the pistons did do a few things to shoot themselves in the foot, I mean I don’t live to far from the palace and at the end of regulation in game 5 I almost jumped in my car and went down to the palace to run Rasheed out of the state!!!! Well, I hope that the refs from game 7 will get some rings to because they blew several calls that went against Detroit.
Well There is next season, I hope coach brown will be back. If not I hope Coach Brown can name his successor. Please!! Not Flip Saunders!!!

I went fishing for the first time this year, I only caught a small fish, not sure what it was but I threw it back. We were only out 15 mn when it started to rain. I love to fish, I am not very good at it but that’s ok its relaxing. I am writing this at Julies Grandparents house in Croswell. Terminator 2 is on the tube, great movie. We brought kitty with us and for some reason he wont leave tasha, their dog alone!!! Poor Dog, she is about ready to bite kitty. We have been leaving the cat in his cage most of time while here, I feel bad but I feel its for his safety as he wont leave The dog alone and the Dog is a very nervous dog.
Oh well, sorry Kitty!!!! Anyways I am excited about Batman Begins comin out, looks like a great flick!!!! I start a new job at MDA in Saginaw on Tuesday!!!! I am excited!!!!!

Idol season 4 is over, Carrie has won. Am I disappointed??? Nope. I wanted Bo to win but I am satisfied that Carrie won. I went on the Idol Chat boards after the show and read a post that stated that conservatives have scored another victory over the liberals with Carrie winning over Bo and the Liberals should stop complaining. Uhhhhh ok whatever.
LOL!!! That’s dumber then a door knob!!! Oh please, how is this similar to politics?? Ok whoever wrote that, are you aware that Bo is from a Red state??? My guess is no! Chucky is home alone today, My Lady got invited to a Tupperware type party at a business associates house.
I am sitting here writing and fighting with the Air conditioning, If I have it on its to cold or off its to Hot.
Strange how that works. Im watching Hellboy on Starz, good movie. I didn’t like it when I first saw it but it kinda grew on me.
I was gonna go see The Ring 2 today but I changed my mind. I saw Friday The 13th on AMC last night, good movie it started kinda slow but the ending was great!! I then watched Friday the 13th part 5 after that, terrible film! I am looking forward to the next Star Wars film and Also the next Batman Film. Ohhh Man, Kitty just farted!!! Stinky!!!

I am filing my first blog on our new laptop. Julie and chucky where out searchin the garage sales this past Saturday and we found this laptop at a garage sale for only 25 bucks!! We were told that all it needed was an OS and we should be good to go. We where hooked up with an OS and here we are. Julies Pa and stepmom treated us to a movie at the new theater in Sandusky mi Sunday night. Really nice theater!! We saw Kingdom of Heaven. My Review, Long and confusing. Lead actor Orlando Bloom does a great job but he really didn’t have much to work with. Director Ridley Scott tried to make this film as PC as possible to not upset to many people and I think it really hurt the film. Half the time I really didn’t understand what was going on. The battle scenes where shot very well but Ridley proved a long time ago that he can handle that. In my opinion, this movie really didn’t need to be made. If you want to see a really good Ridley Scott Directed period piece I recommend Gladiator or and I recommend The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Pirates of the Caribbean for all you Orlando Bloom fans who want to see him in a great role. Its something to think that the turf war that was depicted in Kingdom of Heaven is still going on today but on a smaller scale. Well I am all out of ideas to write about so I am gonna close this out and save it so I can

Draft Day!!! The Lions first choice was a Wide Receiver, am I surprised??? Yes and no Yes because they need Defense!!! Visited my Grandma B, She had Major surgery. She looks good for what she went through. My Sister had Gastric bypass, She made it through ok. Praise God!!! Love my Sis!!! I feel ok today; The Mania has made me a little weary. I woke up with no voice as I have caught Julies Cold. But I got it back as the day progressed. Scott Still hasn’t been voted of f of American Idol!!! I am so pissed!!! He is getting the sympathy vote and that has to stop!! Julie is watching meet the barkers on MTV. Kitty is in is cage cause he is stinky and naughty and needed a time out!

Spent forever today at Michigan Works. I am enrolled in their growing to work program to help me find a job. I feel hopeful but annoyed today, can’t explain why I feel annoyed. I just do. I hung up an extra sun catcher today it looks really pretty. Question: Why don’t some popcorn kernels pop? Why is Scott still in American Idol!!! It’s criminal that Jessica, Nadia, Nikko and Anwar are gone and Scott is still in it. I think American Idol is fixed!!
Still Praying for my Grandma B to get better and my sister. I miss Christopher!!!

I am not perfect, but I am forgiven.

Its day 6 after my meeting with friend of the court. I have hit speedway, central shop rite and IGA so far for applications. IGA was not accepting. I tried Rite Aid and filed one out, but the witch behind the counter gave me attitude, I was like ya know, I know I might not get hired here but drop the attitude and hand over the App!!! Well… I didn’t really say that… but I wanted to. I also tried Ivy Pizza and Video rentals. Saturday night I had a very scary episode, Nausea, dizziness, lots of throw up, black outs. This is going to sound very crazy but I wondered if an evil spirit might have attacked me, as there was evidence. I consulted a Catholic chat room and they said it was possible, I should consult a doctor and if they cannot explain what happened to me then I should consult the church. I don’t want to scare everyone. I am fine. I will update you when I know what’s going on.
I had a busy day; I did some work on the deck hanging up my birthday gift from the parents. Thanks again Mom and Dad!!! My Grandma Boven is in the Hospital, going to visit her tomorrow. A new Pope was elected today, Pope Benedict the 16th. His birthday is 3 days after mine. I am very curious about the Catholic faith, I have made some friends in the Catholic Chat room that I enjoy talking to. Fought a little bit with Julie today, I irritated her a little bit, was my fault I didn’t mean to. We made up though.
Dawn of the Dead is coming on Starz!!! Great film!!!! Got to go.

I was a Hulkamaniac

Yes I admit it, I took my Hulkavitamins, said my Hulkaprayers, Hung out with my Hulkafriends, Ate Hulkasandwiches( for those of you who caught The rocks little speech that he gave to hogan on raw last week, it was mad funny!!!! ) I practically worshipped the guy. I just recently learned that The Hulkster got Hulkapinned at Wrestlemania by the Rock. Now when I was younger I would have cried, I would have screamed to the heavens " WHY!!!!!", but now that I am grown up my reaction is " ha ha!!!"
I admit it I poke my nose in once and a while cause I am curious as to what kind of tomfoolery and skullduggery Vince is up to.
Poor Hulkster, I didnt watch the match but I hope he didnt embarass himself. He needs to call it a career.He needs to hurry on down to the retirement home in florida before he misses any more shuffleboard games.

Walk Tall

I was turned down for a job that I really wanted. A job that I have performed in the past, one that I know I can do and do well. I experienced a lot of emotions in dealing with the rejection. Anger, sadness, frustration, depression, In one of my favorite books, Tuesdays with Morrie, He (Morrie) talks about allowing yourself to experience your emotions and then saying to yourself “ I have experienced Sadness, now I can move on” I did that tonight and when I moved on, I gave it to God and when I did that something funny happened. When Julie and I went for our nightly walk, I found myself doing something that I don’t think I have ever done before. As odd as this might sound I found myself Walking Tall, I was experiencing a level of confidence unlike never before. I can’t quite explain how it happened but I believe God had a hand in that. This rejection was hard to swallow, but I have to believe that that’s not where God wants me at right now.

Thank you to Sheree for her assistance in landing the interview and thank you to my Mom and Dad for rescuing me when I ran out of gas on the way home from the interview. I apologize for being difficult to deal with the past couple of years.
I do believe that I may have made some sort of breakthrough and I give all the glory to God and I thank him and praise him.

I’m sorry…..I really am. I don’t want to disappoint my sister, brother, ma and pa.
But I still can’t muster up any happiness about Bush getting his 2nd Term. Believe me…
I’ve tried. Go ahead call me stubborn, call me a sore loser I don’t care!!! I forced myself to watch the Inauguration and man did I complain a lot while watching it!!! And so it begins, Conservatives you got what you wanted, I truly hope you are happy!! I will admit being a little satisfied with a few of Bush’s cabinet nominees. I got to shake Mike Johans hand at a parade in Fremont Nebraska, real nice guy I think he will do great as secretary of agriculture. I however hope Dr. Rice doesn’t get confirmed, she failed miserably as National Security Advisor. I watched the hearings and a couple of the senators said that one of the reasons why they would vote for her is because she has the Presidents ear. I think it’s the other way around, he has her ear and because of that he will get what he wants. God bless Colin Powell, he will be missed.

I am a person motivated and influenced by so many diverse forces. I sometimes question the sanity of my existence. I am a living paradox- deeply religious, yet not as convinced of my exact beliefs, as I should be. Wanting responsibility yet shirking it. Loving the truth but often giving away to falsity. I detest selfishness, but see it in the mirror everyday. I view those, some of whom are very dear to me, who have never learned how to live. I desire and struggle to be different from them, but often am almost an exact likeness… What a boring little word—I!! I, me, my, mine… The only things that enable worthwile uses of these words are the universal good qualities wich we are not able to place with them—faith, trust, love, responsibility, regret, knowledge. But the acronyms to these symbols of what enable life to be worth the trouble cannot be escaped. I, in my attempts to be honest, will not be the hypocrite I hate, and will own up to their ominous presence in this boy endeavoring in such earnest to be a man.
